Guest guest
-Dear Jyotishis,May I ask a non scholarly question here about 'symbols' or pendants. Regarding the combination of Venus and Moon: All my life I have been attracted to this symbol--the crescent moon with a 'star'. I had bought charms of this symbol as a teenager and even doodled this image on my notebooks and in margins of papers. As I got older I collected some pendants with this combination. My question is---As I have the planet Shukra in the 12th house along with Surya, is the pendant of Shukra and Moon a logical 'balancer' for this situation? Do you know of any Vedic jewelry of this nature? I understand the crescent moon and star is used in pagan charms and in symbols of Islam. I bring this up as you have mention the combination. Venus is the rishi of Amrita Mrityunjaya mantra and Amriteswari is perhaps shown by a combination of Venus and/or Moon. > > May the light of Brahman shine within, > Narasimha > ------------------------------- > Free Jyotish lessons (MP3): http://vedicastro.home.comcast.net > Free Jyotish software (Windows): http://www.VedicAstrologer.org > Sri Jagannath Centre (SJC) website: http://www.SriJagannath.org > ------------------------------- > > > > [background for non-SJC people: In the SJC tradition, the devata > > corresponding to a planet in the 12th house from AK in navamsa is > > called ishta devata and supposed to take one towards moksha.] > > > > > Om Namah Sivaya!! > > > > Namaskarams! > > > > dear Narasimha.. > > > > when i apply that SJC tradition of looking to the twelfth house from > > AK, i find that the 12th house is Taurus (Saturn, my AK is in Gemini > > inthe Navamsa)...but...there are NO planets in Taurus in my navamsha > > chart...where to look then? > > > > i am a devotee of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, from Kerala, the > > Hugging Saint so called by the press....and in my heart i feel that my > > Ishta Devata is the Divine Mother, particularly in Her Kali bhava, or > > Durga Bhava, both of which our Mother Ammachi is said to "represent" > > so to speak... > > > > any advice of how to find this Ishta Devata according to your > > tradition would be appreciated...i am a relative beginner in the > > studies of Jyotish, only since about the year 2000...and mostly > > studying on my own as there are no teachers around here. > > > > are there any other useful techniques to ascertain the Ishta Devata, > > that you know of? > > > > incidentally i use your Sri Jagannatha Hora Jyotish program and find > > it excellent.
