Guest guest
108 qualities of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati are described in a Bengali text. A literal translation of one is: "He is the illuminator of the difference between mundane lust (käma) born of desire for personal happiness, and transcendental love (prema) based on desire for Krsna's happiness." Most of the verses, translated literally, describe him as the illuminator, revealer, establisher, etc. While quite acceptable in Bengali, to me this sounds rather odd in English. Is it better to translate like this: "He illuminated the difference between mundane lust (käma) born of desire for personal happiness, and transcendental love (prema) based on desire for Krsna's happiness." Second is better.

(?) how about: "He illuminates the difference..."?
Guest guest
I noticed that the author of the literature in discussion has not been mentioned. Isn't it disrespectful not mention the author, or has his name been omitted for political purposes. Was this literature ever authorized and approved by Srila Prabhupada? If not, then why are ISKCON devotees even giving their attention to it? ISKCON devotees should be getting their perspective on Srila Saraswati Thakur exclusively from Srila Prabhupada. Don't tell me that BBT editors are now consulting literatures written by someone who has not not been explicitly approved by Srila Prabhupada? BBT editors should be the most disciplined and chaste disciples of Srila Prabhupada in the universe. Consulting or reading literatures that have not been explicitly approved by Srila Prabhupada is a very questionable practice for those who are the guardians of Srila Prabhupada's BBT. Guest guest
108 qualities of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati are described in a Bengalitext. In a Bengali text? Did "Bengali" author this text, or was there someone else behind it? Was this person a sadhaka or a siddha? To me, there are some dubious qualities to this whole presentation. Guest guest
"He is the illuminator of the difference between mundane lust (käma) born of>desire for personal happiness, and transcendental love (prema) based on >desire for Krsna's happiness." This knowledge was never explained before by Lord Krishna, Mahaprabhu, or any of the Six Goswamis or Vishvanatha Cakravarti Thakur? Is this fact or just the sentimental expression of some admirer of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur?
