ayonih : without origin

Yoni, cause, or abode, because the Sruti says, "I prepared a place of

abode [yoni] for thee, O Indra." A-yoni, having no abode, ie unlimited.

Or A, Visnu, yoni, mother, ie the mother of Visnu

BhAskararAya's Commentary

Translated into English by R. Ananthakrishna Sastry.

1. She is the Original Cause. She has no cause because She is the

cause of all causes.

2. She is the first triangle in Sri Chakra, representing avyakta

[unclearness]. She is beyond this avyakta.

3. She is the Mother of Visnu (a = Visnu; yoni = Mother).

- Dr. C. Suryanarayana Murthy, Commentary on the Sri Lalita

Sahasranama, 1962
