Guest guest
Sat Nam! I was just wondering what are people's experiences with this kriya. I am building up to 31 minutes and at that time I will began my 40 day cycle. Unlike other kriyas, this one just breezes by. One thing I have definitely noticed is I get extremely hot. My clothes get almost drenched with perspiration. Because of that, I've begun doing it in the evenings after work and following it up with the Kriya for "Healing the Physical, Mental and Spiritual Bodies." I am also doing Triple Mantra & the Cross-Heart Kirtan Kriya in the mornings. I guess you can say I am really cleaning the internal house. Anyway, just looking for a bit of feedback as to people's experiences, external as well as internal. Thanks so much. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Im on day one hundred holding steady at 11mins. Doing the first 40 days at 5-7mins and i went through plenty of changes. I found that before I´d try to do 31mins for 40 days and there was just so much resistence and pain surfacing that i could never get past 3 weeks.for two years. Start slowly with 5mins. and slowly work up to 11mins then 31mins. The slower the better- YB. This has been my experience. Also I´ve been told to do some spinal warm ups or a kriya before SCK to bring down the prana and avoid a dingy spaced out feeling. Stuff surfaces then you release then more stuff comes then another release. Each successive time releasing becomes easier but if can be tough so take it slow even not much seems to be happening by day 30-40 you should get a breakthrough. Just when you feel at your crappiest it will come so keep up then you´ll be blissed out for a few days and everything flows. Also, don´t try to do too many meditations at once pick two and go for it for a 1000 days. Back off on days when things are getting intense to 5 mins or 11mins for the other meditation. Mahan Gyan mudra has helped me get through those intense days. Realistically choose how much time you can comitt to say 1 hour daily and stick with it. It better to do a little everyday for a long time than alot for a short time then stop. Hope this helps! Check archives for other people´s experiences with this SCK -Chris madrid . Guest guest
Hey Kimberlie aka spiderwoman, I have finished 31 minutes for 40 days. It was not easy. I had to sleep around 30 minutes after I finished Sodarchan. If I failed to do that I would get super angry and easily agitated at small things, I would yell at people too. It was weird. I moved up to 1 hour about 15 days after I completed 40 days of 31min and now I am at 1h and 32 minutes, it has been about 5 days, so I will do Sodarchan until Jan 14th for 1h and 32 min. My plan is to build up to 2h and 30 minutes after I get a discipline boost from summer solstice sadhanna. The effects are about the same as before. Sometimes I get super annoyed with/at everything and sometimes I am in the state of euphoria. The cool thing is that after the timer rings I suspend the breath for some time and my mind dives in to total peace. Then I shake up for 1 minute in one place and meditate silently. That feels great. Bliss…. The annoying part: I do the Sodarchan at 4:30 am after a cold shower/short warm-up. Sometimes when I wake up my left nostril is totally clogged up, so I have to force the in breath for several minutes until it unclogs itself - that is a living hell. But its fun times never the less, I get a great sense of accomplishment after Sodarchan is complete. Also I have to watch out how much water I drink in the morning. Therefore I have to follow the voice within, if I drink too much the urge to urinate comes during Sodarchan and the hell intensifies. Imagine wanting to urinate real bad and pumping the navel also forcing the breath in thought the left nostril. Good Thing: After the Sodarchan is complete the nostrils are unclogged. Navel feels great and I feel the pulse. I feel strong and mighty! Also events in my life become smoother and I worry much less, my digestion works very well. Challenges: Staying with the mantra with the balanced rhythm while pumping the navel and remaining in shunnia for the duration of 1h and 32 minutes. The mind should be in suspension and not wonder or else boredom and discomfort starts the attack. It’s a good discipline to place the timer behind you or turn it around, if you look at the timer to see how much time is left its CHEATING. I did it this morning, bleh…. You mentioned heat. I get no heat, temperature is the same. Sometimes I see allot of white light and my body vibrates when I don’t have to fight the left nostril problem. Also my hands get lots of healing energy in them. That’s about it for now. Wha-Hey guru – summer solstice event is next week baby yeh…. Vito "He who thinks himself different from the Guru is in duality. Therefore, I lay stress time and time again on this fact that if you remain attached to the physical existence of any Guru, you shall not get liberation. Our mind is within and our thoughts are also within. The questioner within is the disciple, and he who answers within is the Guru. When the questioner gets satisfactory answers to all his queries, he becomes silent. When our mind does not have any more questions or when your mind has no desire to know anything, it becomes silent. This state of silent is known as the union of Guru and disciple." Guest guest
Sat Nam, Spiderwoman, I have been doing SCK for almost 500 days. saying this kind of blows my mind, as sticking to things has never been a strong point of mine. And SCK was an incredibly difficult kriya for me to do at first -- I've had asthma since childhood and I used to feel like I was going to expire when on the 28th or 29th pump. Now, however, I find that the most challenging part of the kriya is paying really close attention to the mantra, to the stomach pumps and to the driste (tip of the nose). My mind drifts, a lot, and then I find I'm struggling in the kriya. In short, I think it works just like it's supposed to. Occasionally I get really hot. Side effects: I feel like I can do anything. :-) Love, Avneesh
Guest guest
SAT NAM, To relieve from a blocked nose, Do in place jogging for 2-3mins , with hands perpendicular to the ground straight out at the shoulder level. Fists should be closed, in the sense all the four fingers close over the thumb. Practice Siddhasana to stay close 3 hours at a stretch without moving, it is a very powerful asana which can hold the body in a very comfortable position without feeling hungry, need to urinate or thirsty. thanks Akkama
Guest guest
Yes, as with you I find Sodarshan a tapa (fiery, cleansing) producing kriya. Even in the coolest part of the morning, the amrit vehla, in the coldest part of the year, I find drops of perspiration dripping from my elbows. It is a purifying practice. Connecting the navel point with the mantra with the focus in the upper triangle does that I guess. I would also bet that some folks reaction to it is totally different but no less valid. That is one of the many things that makes Kundalini Yoga so beautiful and so effective. The same practice will have different effects on different people simply because their needs (what they have to work on) are different. And even within the same person reaction to such a kriya will have varied affects on mental, physical & spiritual levels. I often tell students who have studied Hatha yoga that the asanas they have learned are like a tool box full of hammers, screwdrivers, saws, etc. Thgey are each useful and effective in their own specific way. With Kundalini Yoga, though you have a toolbox full of Swiss Army Knives!!! Multipurpose tools, effective for a variety of purposes, ailments, karmas, and so forth.
