Guest guest
Om Gam Ganapataye Namo Namah! Namaste! dear Narasimha.... you provided a very interesting argument in your rambling "philosophical" letter to the list about how you arrived at Sri Ramakrsna's Ishta Devata....a pretty convoluted argument, considering that SUN does occupy the sign 12th to his Rahu AK (your system).... in KN Rao's system, as i had explained earlier, you will also arrive at the SAME ISHTA DEVATA...and through a more straightforward means, as i had explained in my earlier letter...by KN Rao's 7 Karakamsha system, Mars becomes his AK and one finds it in Cancer in Navamsha...which would make Mercury (ruler of Gemini) a possible Ishta Devata...however one will fine Mercury in Aquarius along with Jupiter, and Saturn...and again, just as you said, Saturn being in Moolatrikona is the strongest planet (and in his own sign), thus we could arrive there at Mother Kaali as His Ishta Devata.... having the other planets in that same sign could also explain, as i said earlier, Sri Ramakrsna's subsequent further sadhanas, wherein He chose several different Ishta Devatas, and did the appropriate sadhanas for each one...eg, Krsna, Christ, and Allah...Mercury could stand for Krsna (and possibly Christ as they have similar energies)...and possibly Jupiter might represent Allah...or? anyways, the real reason i am writing is to ask about a friend of mine's Ishta Devata...like Sri Ramakrsna's it is not so straightforward... In her Navamsha chart one will find her AK (Mars) in Pisces...which would make Aquarius 12th to the AK...there is no planet there, so one might choose therefore, Saturn to be the Ishta Devata...However, Saturn is retrograde in ARIES (wherein He is debilitated), and there are altogether FOUR planets there...so one will find in Aries, Saturn ® Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus...so in this case Saturn is NOT the strongest planet there... i wonder if Jupiter might be considered the strongest planet...and thus the Ishta Devata for my friend, or if one of the other planets might do...and if Jupiter is the Ishta Devata, one wonders if he might be representing Lord Ganesha...or should i stick with Saturn? or? i am trying to help Her to find an appropriate Ishta Devata...because as you say, it is important to find just the right one so that one's sadhana might bear fruit sooner and better...She is a Brahmin girl if that makes any difference...also like me, she is a devotee of Ammachi...Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi...so perhaps Jupiter might stand for GURU here? so here i am flailing around in the dark, hoping for some illumination from my more knowledgeable companions on the list... awaiting your advice In Divine Mother's Love and in Her Service, as ever, visvanathan
