Guest guest
Dear Readers, Namonamaha. Jaya Srila Prabhupada! Jaya Jagannath! On Tuesday, 27 June, 2006, ISKCON Baroda will observe it's 25th annual Jagannath Rathayatra Mahotsav. The Rathayatra will start at the Baroda Railway Station at 2:30 PM. As is now an established tradition, the Mayor of Baroda will inaugurate the Rathayatra, by sweeping the road infront of Lord Jagannath's Rath. Usually he is accompanied by many municipal corporators and leaders of both of the main political parties. The Rathayatra moves through the main streets of Baroda, from the Railway Station to Raopura, Jubilee Bagh, Sursagar, Dandia Bazar, Nyaya Mandir, Madan Zampa, Kevda Bagh and then finishes at the Baroda High School, opposite the Polo Ground, at around 7:30/8:00 PM. Lakhs of citizens of Baroda line the streets to greet Their Lordships, Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadradevi. Prasad is distributed by volunteers from trucks (lorries), that follow the Rath procession. Groups of devotees do continuous harinam sankirtan in front of the Rath. This year we expect Sriman Jasomatinandan Prabhu, ISKCON Zonal Secretary for Gujarat and Sriman Mahaman Prabhu, ISKCON Zonal Secretary for Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Hariyana, to participate in the festival. They will be joined by hundreds of local congregational devotees as well as devotees and congregational from Ahmedbad, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Vrindavan and other temples as well. All of your are most cordially invited to attend. Please let us know how many devotees will be participating from your temple in the festival, so that we can make an arrangements for their accommodation and prasad. Hope this meets you well. das, Basu Ghosh Das
