Guest guest
'Or' or 'And' adiyEan's elementary education on our philosophy veered around the two epics and the fundamental principles that were embedded in the mind was The Lord is easily accessible to those who are affectionate towards Him and He conceals Himself to those who are not so.This cropped up from the logical reasoning that EmperumAn is Good towards good people and indifferent to others. Only later did i realise the great auspicious qualities of our Almighty that He gives a helping hand to all but it is for them to take the opportunity of His offer. There may be devotees who may not be affectionate towards Him but may be thinking of Him in negative terms. The Lord thinks of them also. In an old movie 'mAya bajAr' Sri KrshNA looks into a magical mirror which is supposed to show who is uppermost in their mind and the mirror does not show arjunA but sakuni. Sakuni always thinks of the Lord -scheming. Similarly, SisupAlan always thinks of EmperumAn accumulating abused on Him. That is what svAmi Nam AzvAr menitons in periya thiruvandhAdhi 'yEasiyEa Ayinum En thuzhAi mAyanai pEAsiyEa pOkkAi pizhai' 38; At least by abusing Him try to decmiate your sins. Coming to the topic of discussion, it became clear that the Lord does not require nexus or impose condition that 'thinking of Him and affinity towards Him' should go together. If you are affectionate towards Him, good. If you think Him without bakthi - abuse, even then He blessses. Did He not show Himself to Hiranyan who was always asking "where is Hari?' This is what thirumangai AzvAr highlights in the 5th pAsuram of the ninth thirmozhi in the ninth ten 'nEsam illAdhavarkkum ninaiAdhavarkkum ariyAn' This is clearly interpreterd by Sri PeriyavAchAn piLLai as 'nEasam illAdhavarkku ariyAn or ninaiyAdhavarkku ariyAn' He is unattainable for those who are not affectionate or He is unattainabale for those who do not think of Him. The vyAkyAnam lines go like this: 'para bakthikkum-adhEshathukkum vAsi vaiyAdhEa thannai koduppAn engai' The Lord does not link great devotion and lack of apathy but gives Himself. The arumpadhavurai refers to the Lord giving Himself to GanTa karNan. Apparently, the Lord gives Himself to those who are affectionate or think of Him. the link is or and not and dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
Guest guest
Or' or 'And' The very moment adieyn read the the post “or and And†suddently reminded adiyEn about a thirunAmam “sathgathiH (704th in vishnu sahasranAmamâ€. Sath gathiH directly means the lord is the protector of the pious. But then what does it imply indirectly, when the lord protector of the irreverent people like sisupala, should we specially have to say, he will protect the pious??? This is shown by bhattar in his magnum opus “bhagavad guNa darpaNam†the vyakhyanam to srivishNu sahasra namaâ€. Did adiyen said Bhattar..yes swami parASarabhaTTar..and indeed the calander shows..june 10th as vaikASi viSAkham. Yesterday was SrI parASara bhattar’s thirunakshathram. Swami bhattar held the essence of the aruLicheyals while writing his great bhashyam on Vishnu sahasra namam. Apart from that swami bhattar in his short life span, provided us with a variety of works, dipped in the deeper meanings of aruLicheyals. Let us bow down to his lotus feets SrIparASara bhaTTARyaH SrIrangESa purOhithaH SrIvathsAnka suthaH SrImAn SrEyasE mEshthu bUyasE || Adieyn ramanuja dasan Sreekanth
