theist
A snippit from Srila Prabhupada's purport to SB 2.9.6. "When Lord Brahma was perplexed about how to construct the material manifestations in the universe and went down within the water to find out the means and the source of his lotus seat, he heard the word tapa vibrated twice. Taking the path of tapa is the second birth of the desiring disciple. The word upasrinot is very significant. It is similar to upanayana, or bringing the disciple nearer to the spiritual master for the path of tapa. So Brahmaji was thus initiated by Lord Krishna, and this fact is corroborated by Brahmaji himself in his book the Brahma-samhita. In the Brahma-samhita Lord Brahma has sung in every verse govindam adi-purusham tam aham bhajami **. Thus Brahma was initiated by the Krishna mantra, by Lord Krishna Himself, and thus he became a Vaishnava, or a devotee of the Lord, before he was able to construct the huge universe. It is stated in the Brahma-samhita that Lord Brahma was initiated into the eighteen-letter Krishna mantra, which is generally accepted by all the devotees of Lord Krishna. We follow the same principle because we belong to the Brahma sampradaya, directly in the disciplic chain from Brahma to Narada, from Narada to Vyasa, from Vyasa to Madhva Muni, from Madhva Muni to Madhavendra Puri, from Madhavendra Puri to Isvara Puri, from Isvara Puri to Lord Caitanya and gradually to His Divine Grace Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, our divine master." I have a question. When did realization of the conjugal rasa enter? Was it from Lord Caitanya or prior to Him? A branch goes through several changes in the course of a year. The leaves may fall in autumn leaving the branch bare. In winter the branch may be covered in ice and snow. In spring the leaves come back and during spring and summer it produces flowers. Someone who takes a look at the same branch in spring and summer may think it is a different branch than the one in fall and winter. It bares little resemblance at all superfically. But one who observes the changes that come throughout the entire year knows it is but one branch but just in different phases of manifestation. Jahnava Nitai Das
Nice analogy. In a few sentences you have explained all the differences between the Madhva line and Gaudiya line.
Guest guest
I have a question. When did realization of the conjugal rasa enter? Was it from Lord Caitanya or prior to Him? Here is your answer; Beginning from Madhvacarya down to the spiritual master of Madhavendra Puri, the acarya named Laksmipati, there was no realization of devotional service in conjugal love. Sri Madhavendra Puri introduced the conception of conjugal love for the first time in the Madhvacarya-sampradaya, and this conclusion of the Madhvacarya-sampradaya was revealed by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu when He toured southern India and met the Tattvavadis, who supposedly belonged to the Madhvacarya-sampradaya.
