Understanding the Siva Kavacham

Before we try to understand the Kavacham we should try to understand

what the vibration ' Siva' brings about.

Si - stands for perfection or complete or fullness

Va - denotes movement or flowing or vibration

'Siva' happens when movement becomes complete or it is the perfect

vibration, i.e. Siva is not the absence of movement but the the fullness

or completeness born out of its perfection - a potent and infinite

silence or infinite potential.

Now to the Kavacham,

So the kavacham says listen, Oh Goddess, as I elucidate the armor of all

perfection,

the name which protects the three worlds - vibration which is the base

of everything

restraining all negativity - brings all movement to fullness

Not even hundreds orthousands of mouths, nor the Gods, nor even

Maheshwara, the Great Lord Himself, possess the capacity to proclaim the

qualities of this armor - How can anything or anyone proclaim 'Siva'

when in the process of proclaiming they all become complete and silent

This protection for the organs of action

Om - Mouth

Na - Ears

Ma - Head

Shi - Heart

Va - Eyes

Ya - Arms

May the vibration bring perfection and fulleness to what Ispeak, to what

I hear, to what I think, to what I feel, to what I see, to what I do.

This is protection for the physical body

A - upper

U - Middle

M - Lower

Five letters - All overthe body

May the vibration help to experience only perfection above ,middle,

below and all over my body.

This , Oh Goddess, is the explanation of all perfection, the name which

protects the three worlds, grantor of all perfection

If one wears such an armor at the base of the throat or on the right arm

- When one wears this vibration mentally or physically

The base of the throat (indicative of our mental actions) - doing this

is to make all what you express an expression of the divine perfection

The Right Arm (indicative of our physical actions) - doing this is to

make all what we do an expression of divine perfection.

he will be released from the bonds of all sin - when our actions are a

expression of the divine then there is no sin or all vibrations attain

there completion or fullness.

of this there is no doubt.

Jai Sri Ramakrishna!
