Knocking at the Wrong Door?

one of the akbar birbal stories revolve around a person who looks for a lost item in bright place whereas he had lost it in the dark place. This man was ultimately included in the association of fools.

If you want to study physics you go to a physics teacher and not to an english tutor.

What does Sri AnanthAzvAn does? He seeks the blessings of Sri RamAnuja for getting the magnum opus thriuvAimozhi onto our minds. Logically, the blessings should be from the author of the work, svami Nam-AzvAr or EmeprumAn HImself. AnanthAzvAn knocks at the door of not EmperumAn but EmperumanAr.

'Yeindha perum kErthi iramAnusa muni than vAindha malar pAdham vaNanguginReAn,

Aindh perum sEr Ar satakOPan senthamizh vEadham tharikkum pErAdha vuLLam pERA' ThriuvAimozhi thaniyan.

He is not alone in this thinking. Sri EmbAr also knocks at the door of EmpeurmAnAr

'engaL gathiyEa iramAnusa muniyEa..

mangaiyOAr Endha mARAi Ayiramum thangu manm nE enakkuth thA"

This is thaniyan for Periya Thriumozhi.

Why is it?

Neither udayavr is author of these divinve works nor has he given the vyAkyAnam.

A brief look at the background throws light on this issue

i. EmperumAnAr's unflinching faith and understanding of these divyaprabhandham-s bequeathed immense knowledge to the AchAryas who gave the vyAkyAnam-s..Several vyAkyAnam-s directly quote EmperumAnar while interpreting.Edu is replete with this.

ii. BashyakArar took the verses from ThriuvAimozhi to synchronise the seemingly contradictory upanishad vakyAms

'bAshyakArar idhu koNdu sUthra vAkayangaLai orunga viduvar' AchArya Hrdhayam 65.

iii. The fact that he did not give any vAkyAnam-s but paved way for several vyAkyAnam-s for thriuvAimozhi .

iv. Day in and day out he was devouring the verses of thriumangai AzvAr and svAmi Nam-AzvAr

'then kurukaipp pirAn pATTennum vEdha pasum thamizh thannai than bakthi yennum vETTin kaN vaitha irAmAnusan' 29

'paNdaRu mARan pasum thamizh-Anandham pAi madhamAi viNdida engaL iramAnusa muni vEAzham'64

The above two irAmAnusa NuthandhAdhip pAsuram-s and others reiterate the fact that Sri udayavar's food for thought was none other than these prabhandham-s.

v. 'kalaip perumAL oli mikka pADalai vuNDu than vuLLam thadithu'88

'nElan thanakku vulgil iniyAnai'17

and other such pAsuram-s from irAmAnusa nUthandhAdhi enunciate His deep immersion in Kaliyan's verses.

Vi. The knowledge for any disciple should be blessed by AchAryan. Who else but our universal AchAryan is our spiritual mentor?

All these and so many other factors make it a case of knocking at 'The appropirate place' and not the case of knocking at the wrong door X

as he is none other than the one who is :

mARAn adi paNindh vuindhavan

illai enak edhir-illai enakk edhir-illai enakk edhirEA!

Indeed SrI padmanabhan swamis conclusion is right, we are knocking at the right doors.

adiyen think even we dont have to knock, but the doors are open and waiting for us.....

udayavars own words

"innamutham UTTukEn ingE vA painkiLiyE".........

perumAL thirumozhi thaniyan....thaugh it is directly addressed to koorathazhwan, its meant to all of us, udayavar is calling us to give the Amutham of AruLicheyals.

And he is also none other than

kuRayal pirAn adikkIzh viLLAtha anpan irAmAnujan

adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan
