Guest guest
Sat Nam Gramma Judy! Improving your breathing improves metabolism to burn off fat and soften emotional issues that lead to food cravings and unnecessary consumption. It will also invite a heightened sense of self awareness and well being. Breathing consciously will help you lose weight. Exhaling consciously burns fat! If you decide to make breath a priority, you will notice the weight decreasing! People who really make a commitment to their breath seem to be less ruled by food cravings. Most of the time we are more hungry for breath than we are for food! When you breathe consciously your food choices naturally change. Overweight people tend to have restricted breathing. Practice watching your breath and consciously slowing it down to 4 or less breaths per minute. Monitor your mental, emotional and physical states as your shift your breathing pattern. Train yourself to be more conscious of the relationship between your breathing and thinking. The power of the breath helps us get in touch with the power of the mind. Practicing pranayama (Breath control) with your eyes closed and rolled up to the third eye point stimulates the pituitary gland and that gland regulates seratonin production. Seratonin plays a large role in regulating our appetite. Oxygen too is fuel for your body. There are no calories in oxygen. You can breathe in all you want for as long as you want and still no calories! Not only that, but the extra oxygen you take in will cause the chemical reactions in your body to take place much faster, thus, you burn more calories than you take in. This in turn speeds up your metabolism and makes you burn more fat. What is your diet like? If you eat devitalized, overly cooked, excessively fatty foods and have inadequate activity and shallow breathing you are not ridding yourself of toxins properly nor can you burn the fuel you consume, regardless of its possible low fat content. The lack of adequate oxygen and low metabolism will add pounds with practically anything you eat. Providing one's food intake is mostly simple carbohydrates (live fruits and vegetables), the human body is designed to discharge approximately 70 percent of its waste products through breathing, in the form of carbon dioxide. Only a small percentage of toxins should be discharged through sweat, defecation, and urination. This is a big bonus to eating vegetarian! In addition, if your breathing is not releasing toxins, other systems of your body, such as your kidneys and liver must work overtime. These toxins can also clog up your breathing system and compromise your general body functioning by diverting your oxygen supply to rid the body of something that another function should have done in the first place. This can set the stage for a number of illnesses, including of course, obesity. Kundalini Yoga offers many breathing patterns that can help with the shift towards more conscious breathing. Breath of Fire (also helps with cravings and addictions), Dog breath, 4-4 Breath, The Miracle Breath (1 minute breath) are just a few. Blessings in Health!
