Shalom
Hi there... Just wondering, why do you wear the kavaca? what is inside it? and what rituals do you undertake before wearing it? Thankyou very much

narayani
Hare Krsna, I know there are many types of kavacas. I am only familiar with the Nrsimha kavaca. Basically it's a hollow metal tube, usually gold or silver, prayers are written on some paper or a leaf etc. in glorification to Lord Nrsimhadeva. The prayers are rolled up and sealed in the kavaca. They can be worn on the body around the neck, on the left arm for women, and on the right for men. Usually it is worn for protection against harm (spiritual and material). Here is a link to the Nrsimha kavaca: http://www.stephen-knapp.com/prayers_to_lord_narasimhadeva.htm Hope this helps a little.
