Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Paasuram-76 "pAttum muRaiyum padukadhaiyum palporulum Eettiya teeyum eruvisumbum-kEtta manuvum shruthi maRainAngum mAyan tana mAyaiyil patta dharpu" Why does thirumazhisai piran vow not to sing about anyone else? Here he answers; since all the words and meanings in this world were created only by His sankalpa it is fare only to sing his praise. SWAMY PERIYAVACHAN PILLAI'S COMMENTARY (PAttum muRaiyum padukathaiyum palporulum) These are the four that have been elaborated by the puranas. "sargascha prathisargascha vamsamanvantharAni cha I vamsAnusaritham krutsnam mayAthra tava keerthinam II" Vishnu puranam 6-8-13 [srusti, pralaya, vamsas, manvanthras and stories of various vamsas have all been told by me to you] (pAttum) The songs that elaborate the greatness of ordinary kings to the king of kings (sarvEsvaran); as per the words of mAtsya purana "agnE: sivasya mAhAtmiyam" puranas talk about the devathas, pitrus and kings. (muRai) vamsas and manvanthras; (padukathaiyum) All those episodes that happened earlier; (palporulum) added with other contents like astronomy, varnashramas etc. SRI APPILLAI'S (PRIME DISCIPLE OF SWAMY MANAVALA MAMUNIKAL) COMMENTARY (pAttum muRaiyum) Eyal (notes) and esai (music) (padukathaiyum) the ethihasas that talk about ancient stories (palporulum) the puranas; (Eettiya teeyum) The fire (agni) that which possesses all the other bhoothas inside due to pancheekaranam [To make creation possible easwaran splits the 5 bhoothas each into 8 parts keeping 4 in each and distributing the other 4 parts to the other 4 bhoothas. This act is termed as pancheekaranam.] (eru visumbum) the sky (akasa) that spreads over the other bhoothas also. Taking these two indicates all the 5 bhoothas and all that is being created by them.(panchabhoothaththirkkum upalakshanam) (kEtta manuvum.dharpu) "yatvai kincha manuravadhat tat bEshajam" [whatever was told by manu is the medicine] tat.sam.2-2 declares the Vedas about the manusmriti. Those manusmriti and the four Vedas called as sruthi as they were taught by a teacher and learned by a disciple just by listening and repeating were all created by His sankalpa, the wish of the surprising master (Ascharyabhoothan) The connection between a word and its meaning was all created by His ultimate wish. (mAyai) sankalpa roopa jnanam; dharpu-tattva, truth; (To Be Continued) Azhvar emperumAnAr Jeeyer thiruvadigalE sharaNam Adiyen ramanuja dAsee Sumithra Varadarajan
