Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Rick, I have no car, but here is some information in getting to Toronto and the program venues if you (or others reading the list) are unable to get a ride from Buffalo. You can take Amtrak's Maple Leaf line from Buffalo to Toronto (arriving at Union Station downtown, from which you could take the subway to Finch station and then a bus to the program venues). It's about a four-hour train trip, I believe, and then maybe another hour or so on the subway/bus. The one issue here is that Amtrak doesn't seem (i'm checking their website now) to have a train available to go back to Buffalo after Devi Bhava ends on the 27th, and you may have to either leave Devi Bhava early or spend another night in Toronto and go back the next morning. Greyhound buses seem not to be a good bet - they go a very circuitous route that takes over a day! You could, however take shuttle buses via Niagara Falls - there are shuttles that will pick you up at the Buffalo airport and get you to the Falls, and then other shuttles that will take you from Niagara Falls to Toronto. Niagara Airbus, for example, will do both. ( http://www.niagaraairbus.com/ ) The destinations in Toronto vary - depending which shuttle you choose, you'd likely have your pick of a few downtown locations or the Pearson airport. (Neither the Sheraton Parkway nor Renaissance Parque seems to have an airport shuttle service, unfortunately.) My thought is that going to the Toronto airport may make it easier to cab (since they have flat fees for airport service) and downtown would make it easier to get on the subway. I hope this helps, Laura On Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 01:36 PM, Rick Archer wrote: > We usually drive to see Amma, with camping trailer and dogs in tow, but > this > summer we’re thinking of flying – doing a circle fare to Boston and > Toronto. > We could save a ton of money if we drove from Iowa to Kansas City and > then > took Southwest and did the circle fare to Providence and Buffalo. Greyhound and Coach Canada have several trips a day to TOronto from Buffalo.. trip takes about two hours and change, including time spent at U.S/Canada customs, and is quite direct.. mostly straight up the QEW, and non-stop except for brief pit stops at Niagara Falls/Casino Niagara and possibly St. Catharines as well. The high-speed ferry between Rochester, NY and Toronto is now defunct.. after two years of poor patronage and buckets of losses, they've pulled the plug on that floating white elephant. Guest guest
Hi Keval, That's good to know about the bus trips. I was going from the Greyhound website, which I've known in the past to deliver less than helpful info - thanks for the reality check!
