Guest guest
Dear Kumar, 1.i think you are getting wrong with the words...i suppose ... transliteration of single individual from tamil to english does not render the language in poor taste... 2. you're getting confused with tamil and malayalam words which more or less sound similiar with tamil words...in fact all dravidian words are inter related atleast on phonetic basis... 3. personally i feel you are totally biased with tamil and tamilian ...for reasons best known to you only..i've seen some of your mails recently .... for your example...the right tamil word for gochara is graha sara...but the srinivasan has written it as cochara...it shows his conversion to english of the same word used by all but not the correct tamil word...in fact many of the people in tamilnadu has forgotten the usage of beautiful tamil and malayalam words...which has its roots in sanskrit... I am not a tamilian for your info (maharashtrian living in mumbai) but i know the richness of tamil language and its depth in literature and i consider it as one of the oldest considering the time thirukkural is written... finally what is important is understanding the message conveyed by the writer and not the words... Now you can take it whichever way you want...i felt like writing this...to you as a good friend... best wishes sriganeshh , Prashant Kumar G B <gbp_kumar wrote: > > Dear RR, > > sure I agree with what u said on European As I have leart french and seen german, spanish, Italine books at home, can't read though. > > about tamils is these people can use the regular words but they like sounding different all the time. that is why the mention here, and can all make sense of the different words from regular words > > now a simple quiz for noN tamils > > FIX THE REGUALR WORD FOR THESE > AMOGAM > MAGAYA NAMAGE > UTTARADAM > PURVATTADI > > TIRUVADARAI > PUNARPUSAM > AYILYAM > THIRUVONAM > SADAYAM > KATTAI > > easier ones > Magam, Maham > chittarai > KIRITHIGAI > punarpusam > Miragashirisham > > this is byurereh tamil > > this is not to belittle anyone but we need soe estandard to make ourselves clear to all. just as English is unlike other European languages > > crystal pages <rrgb wrote: Kumar ji, > > If I may interject with a personal note (short one, I promise!) ... > Although I have no understanding of Tamil, I have always found > these 'variations' very interesting, even attractive when they appear > in astrological writing, and nearly always easily understandable! > > OTOH, I find the 'transliteration' symbols used mostly in european > writings -- and also by some Indians writing for Europeans, I > suppose -- more difficult to understand and actually those slow me > down and thereby create a bit of frustration. Guest guest
Kumarji, Lest there be misunderstanding in the minds of any European forum members, when I said, the transliteration bothers me or slows me down, it was not a comment on their language! What I meant was the characters with diatribes etc that linguists use when writing a sanskrit sloka in another lipi, such as Roman (english, french etc) in order to preserve the pronounciation of sanskrit when written in a european language. Obviously, part of that is because of my familiarity with those symbols and puristically speaking that is the right or at least uniform way, same as the pronounciation symbols used in any dictionary! Without those we would not know how to say a word properly. And to given an example from english, you can write record only one way, but pronounce it two different ways and each then means two different things! Of course, you know all that. Mon plaisir, monsieur, vraiment de parler avec un person multilingue! J'admire les personnes comme ca! Si vous voulez essayiez, il ya une site web d'astrologie (beaucoup des choses!) sur l'internet. Denis Laboure est le maitre du web <?>. C'est magnifique! Bien amicalement!
