Question from Henny:

Namaste Swamiji, Ever since reading verse 4 of the Purusa Sukta, I have

been thinking about the meaning of 'existence which eats and eats not',

because I didn't understand what this means; what exists that does not

eat, I wondered. Today, reading verse 4 of the Rudri's Chapter 2, I

found the same two lines in this text as well, and now the translation

of the word I puzzled about is very different. Would you please help me

understand the word vyakramatsashananashane-abhi? Thank you for your

time and consideration.

Swamiji's response:

vyakramat - To make, create individual forms

sashanan - To divide again and again

ashane - resides, sits

tato - Then

vishwam - universe

abhi -within
