Guest guest
It is said that Lord Venkateshwara at Tirupati originally has only 2 hands. Is it true?
Jahnava Nitai Das
Yes, the shankha and chakra are added above his 2 hands to make the appearance of four hands. But he is a two handed form of the Lord. Same with Ranganatha in Srirangam. He is a two handed form of the Lord - he is not Kshirodakashayi Vishnu, nor Mahavishnu, nor Garbhodakashayi Vishnu. Jahnava Nitai Das
By the way, do you believe that afer building the Ranganatha Swami temple Raja gopuram in 1981, Sri Lanka started having ethnic problems? One devotee astrologer told Chandrika that the gopuram blocked Ranganatha's blessings going to Lanka; and based on that he convinced her to spend millions of dollars making a Ranganatha temple in Sri Lanka. The plan was announced in the papers a few years back. I haven't followed up on it to see what stage it is in now.
