Like you, though, I realized that I didn't have to do it all today. I really like your idea and shall adopt it... Dear Gauri ~ I'm so glad my idea helped make the EMS sankalpa a bit less daunting. I was daunted from the first day I saw the materials on the site, and I didn't really understand what the numbers meant until just a few weeks ago. They were so daunting that I thought surely they must be group totals, like the 20,000 of the MM Mantra for May. Then I learned that, no, they were for every individual to achieve ... and I like to remember these words that Swamiji so often uses, "according to your capacity." But even then, I thought I will never complete it, so I will have a smaller goal, and get there first, and then see. Now I have reached my goal of chanting 1/3 of the malas for Surya and Mangala, and about half way to 1/3 for Saturn. : ) I realized that the way I was approaching it ~ to say as many malas for the particular day associated with the planet ~ was never going to get me there because, once I realized that it was I alone responsible for chanting the planet's malas, How wuld I get to Sukra (with almost three times the number to be chanted, compared to some of the others) or to Buddha? Now that I have reached my own goal for two of the planets, I can concentrated on planets with more malas left to reach that 1/3 point. It may seem a little goofy, but I realized I needed a goal that was possible for me. Then if I reach that goal, I can set another one ... to reach the halfway point for all of the malas. Anyhow, it was becoming something I was rushing through, rather than something I was doing as prayer or as spiritual food to embibe. I needed to make it sadhanan again. Jai Maa , Jai Swamiji ~ Linda P.S. and celebrations and joy to those who have completed the sankalpa. You all rock!
