According to the Kosa [Amara 501], samstuta means experience, ie her greatness is experienced by the scriptures. Or sruti, four, ie her glory is experienced in four ways, the Person in the body, the Person in the metres, the Person in the scriptures, and the great Person as described in the Bahvrca. Up. She is in the four forms [vyUhas]. The KUrma Pr. also :"Devi has four saktis; they declared to be her own nature, and she is the support of these four; Listen to me, O best of munis, these are sAnti [peace], vidyA [knowledge], pratisthA [fixity], and nivrtti [restraint].
