Guest guest
H.N.Sreenivasa Murthy Pranams to you all. What is Mukthi or Moksha? Let us Know From Sri Shankara. Acharya Shankara says: (A) : nityattvAt mOkShasya, sAdhakasvarUpAvyatirEkAcca || Moksha is nitya (eternal), it is not different from seeker's TRUE NATURE. [ BrihadAranyaka Upanishad; 3-3-1] (B) : brahmaiva hi muktyavasthA || Mukthi is Brahman itself. [ Brahmasutra: 3-4-52} © : pratyagAtmAvikriyasvarUpaniShThAtvAcca mOkshasya || To abide in and as the changeless , Innermost AtmaswarUpa is Moksha. [bhagavadgIta: Ch.18 - 55] (D) : kUtasthanityatvAnmOkShasya || Moksha is changeless and eternal. [ Brahmasutra: 2-1-14] (E) : idaM tu pAramArthikaM , kUtasthanityaM , vyOmavat sarvavyApI, sarvavikriyArahitaM, nityatRptaM, niravayaM, svayaMjyotisvaBAvaM | tadEtat aSarIratvaM mOkShAKyaM || This one is unchangingly eternal in an absolute sense; It is all-pervasive like space, devoid of all modifications, ever content, partless, and self-effulgent by nature, THIS IS THAT UNEMBODIEDNESS called MOKSHA. [ Brahmasutra: 1-1-4] Let us see what Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi says: (A) A man's true nature is mukti. [TWR:551] (B): Mukti is synonymous with the Self. There is only mukti and nothing else. [TWR: 266] ©: Devotee: What is Moksha? Bhagavan: Moksha is to know that you were never born. [TWR: 131] (D): Bhagavan: Mukti, i.e. liberation, is not to be gained heresfter. It is there FOR EVER, HERE AND NOW. Devotee: I agree, but I do not experience it. Bhagavan: The experience is here and now. One cannot deny one's own Self. [TWR: 359 ] Note: TWR- Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi. THIS IS MOKSHA according to JNANIS. May that Indwelling Divinity bless us with this realisation. With warm and respectful regards Sreenivasa Murthy. India Answers: Share what you know. Learn something new Click here
