Dear Guru Prem:

 

 

 

I taught kids yoga classes for a while. It is not recommended to teach the

breath of fire until after puberty because it affects the hormonal system if

I recall properly. Does someone know this more precisely?

 

 

 

What I recommend is long deep breaths, sitali breaths and grounding

postures. Hyperactive kids tend to not be in their body. They are active and

don't take time to feel what is happen inside. So any kind of yoga that

brings them inward is going to help. Now that's not easy because the

hyperactivity is a way to escape something inside so we have to be gentle in

helping them with this.
