I have been doing Bikram Yoga for 1 1/2 years and would like to add KY

to my practice. Where should I start and are there any conflicts or

adverse results from practicing both? Any advice or comment is much

appreciated.

dear L

when I started KY more than four years ago I had done bikram yoga for like 1 and a half

years, too. it helped, I knew at least 26 postures, I could hold my arms already straight in

the air for some time (but wow... they did it longer in the ky class...) but in the same time

it felt like I was doing yoga for the first time...

now, my boyfriend is doing BikramY. from time to time ("more yogic" styles seem strange

to him, but I'm glad he is doing yoga - no matter which style - anway) and sometimes I go

with him. to me there's no problem "switching". Because: Compared to Kundalini yoga,

going to a bikram class for me is like going to the gym - streching, sweating, and working

out. going to a kundalini yoga class is like meeting a teacher, is to make an experience, is

to learn new things and get to know a new kriya and get closer to wisdom. I don't want to

offend any bikram yogi/ni but KY is the "real yoga" to me... I also tried other yoga styles

like ashtanga. I liked it, but I could't go to power yoga/ashtanga classes and in the same

time believe in kundalini yoga. the breathing is too different and there are contradictions

that confused me.

so I decided for me trying other styles can be good - just to get to know them and mostly:

to find the best style for you - but once I found my stayle mixing doesn't work.

But like I said - in case of bikram, because it's only postures and there are no

techniques that really contradict with ky, I personally think you can do it..

I don't know what the ky experts say but am curious to read it.

sat nam and lots of fun!
