Guest guest
Sat Nam! Anxiety is seen as too much future. Practicing staying in the present moment as much as possible with the Miracle Breath. 20 second inhale, 20 second retention, 20 second exhale (you build up to these times) will be beneficial. Another thought is anxiety and fear are more present in Vata individuals or individuals with Vata imbalances. To help with this again the breath is useful. Inhale normally and begin gradually to lengthen your exhale; at the base of the lengthened exhale pull navel lock and hold the breath out. At first you will experience fear and anxiety but go slow, trust that you will have another breath and in this way build up your trust in ALL as you release deep seated fears and anxieties. Yogiji said the true health of an individual is measured by the breath. As you practice pranayama you will notice not only the health change for the better but many other subtleties as well. Stretching from side to side slowly with the arms overhead is also very helpful. As you stretch and open up the ribcage anxiety is released. Just sitting and breathing consciously with the eyes rolled up to the 3rd eye point stimulates serotonin production which relieves anxiety. "Evolved human beings have a very calm breath. Normally you breathe 15 times a minute. If you breath 10 times a minute you'll be very energetic. If you breathe 5 times a minute you'll be very intelligent. If you can breathe 1 time a minute you will become invincible. The power of the breath should be under your own control."
