Guest guest
The claim by Tamohara prabhu (see below) that the Lord Brahma who thought of having sex with his daughter was a different living entity than the present Lord Brahma (of our universe) is incorrect, according to the purports of Srila Prabhupada. While there may be other sastras which comment on this lila, it is clear from Srila Prabhupada's commentaries on these verses that it was indeed, the same Lord Brahma who is the originator of our Brahma Madhva Gauriya sampradaya during the present life of Lord Brahma. your servant, Krsnadasi "...It was never expected that a great personality like Brahmä would ever think of sex indulgence with his daughter. The example shown by Brahmä only suggests that the power of material nature is so strong that it can act upon everyone, even Brahmä. Brahmä was saved by the mercy of the Lord with a little punishment, but by the grace of the Lord he did not lose his prestige as the great Brahmä". [sB.3.12.34 Ppt] ================================ By Tamohara das (from dandavats.com) Dear Visakha Priya Mataji, Hare Krishna, .... I think there is another way to understand the story of Vak and Lord Brahma. First, Srila Prabhupada very clearly states in one of the first purports that this was NOT the Brahma who was instructed from within by Krsna, and became the founder of our sampradaya (Brahma is a post, not a person). Prabhupada says that this Brahma with the daughter Vak is from a different kalpa. If he were enlightened from with the heart (as our Brahma was) he could not have done such a sinful act. So, it is NOT true that the Brahma who heads our samppradaya lusted after his daughter. So, rest assured, the foundation of our disciplic line in not threatened.
