Guest guest
Dear All, Adding to what SriGanesh posted, here are a few things about AMDP (AshTaMangalaDevaPrashna). AMDP is the branch of Vedic astrology mostly practised in Kerala. This branch is a mixture of all Hora Shastras, the Prashna technique and the Omenology - the Shakuna Shastra. It is particularly used for mundane purposes rather than natal predictions. The Classical text in Sanskrit describing this AShTa Mangala Prashna is - "Prashnamaarga" by a Keralite Brahmin and is later translated by Dr.B.V.Raman into English. Many complain that the translation lacks examples. The AMDP gets its name by ASHTA(8) MANGALA(auspicious) materials used in the prashna process. It is not done by one astrologer but by a group of astro-scholars and omenologists discussing for hours or days together! Every contribution by each is put into result by the head astrologer at the end. Since the event happens in a temple or a divine place, and being concerned with temple and god, the prashna is DEVA prashna, making the process - AshTa Mangala Deva Prashna. During AMDP, each and every omen is taken care of, along with precise prashna techniques, from the very start to the end. A South Indian chart is drawn on the ground and duly worshipped as per procedures before the query. A boy, or unconcerned person or any one ignorant of astrology is called and asked to keep the worshipped golden coin with tamboola in any of the rashi house he likes. THAT rashi is taken as special ascendant called SWARNA LAGNA. Even, drawing the chart is done by one who does not know astrology. The omens are so important that they mend the result of prashna! For example, drawing a chart must be done from East ie with Mesha. If the person drawing the chart start from South, it certainly means different! Interested members can go through DevaKeralam or PrashnamArga. yours KAD , "sriganeshh" <sriganeshh wrote: > > Manjuji, > > Ashtamangalya prashnam - my two cents info... > > it basically deals with divinity and other related aspects of > temple. like whether there is any dosha in the worship methods and > whether puja methods are proper or not..? etc.. > > normally a kumari with lamp in her hand is asked to enter any one of > the 12 houses of kundli and the house where she enters first is > considered as lagna and accordingly the process continues... > there was good handout sometime back in the magazine sakthi vikatan > and if interested you can ask the vikatan authorities for a copy of > the same...this art is widely practiced in kerala . > > sriganeshh > > , "manju_88" <manju_88@> > wrote: > > > > Dear learned gurus, > > > > I came across this news at the site > > > > http://www.humanrightskerala.com/index.php? > > option=com_content&task=view&id=3749&Itemid=5 > > > > Basically it tells about the use of " ashtamanjalyaprashnam or > > Devaprasnam " at sabarimala temple and how the astrologers could > > predict that one woman had entered the temple which is not > according > > to the rules of the Sabari mala temple.
