Dear Members:

Guru Poornima falls on July 11, 2006 this year. This is a day when

Guru paramparaa is to be honoured right from Veda Vyaasa to one's

diksha/ vidya Guru. It is auspicious to chant "Om Vyaam Vyaasadevaaya

namaha" meditating on Veda Vyaasa who has collected, edited and

presented to us innumerable classics.

This is an auspicious day for offering Guru Dakshinaa to one's Guru or

any person who has selflessly shared his/her knowledge with you, as a

gesture of thanks for the invaluable knowledge that you might have

gained from them.

Blessed be.

Pandit. R.DAKSHINAMOORTHI.

Dear Members:

Sadaa Guru Paada Smaranam Karomii:

Though July 11, 2006 is the Vyaasa Pooja in India and Eastern

countries as Guruji Dakshinamoorthiji has rightly mentioned, for

members living in the US, it should be celebrated on July 10th itself.

Kindly note this point and pay your respects to your Gurujis on the

appropriate day. (Of course, Poojya Gurujis should be worshipped and

venerated every day. But, Guru Pooja day is more special!).

Even in India, Pournami pooja should be done on July 10th itself (For

Pournami Pooja, Pournami thithi should be present at night on that

day; for Vyaasa pooja, Pournami thithi should be present at sunrise of

that day. Hence this difference). I hope I am correct. If I am

wrong, Guruji kindly correct me.

Regards,

Mohanraaam.

Dear Shri. Raj:

You can chant the following mantraas:

"Om Gurubhyo namaha"

"Om Guru Brahmaa Gurur Vishno Guru Devo Maheshwarah

Guru Saakshaath Parabrahma tasmai Gurave namaha"

"Om Naaraayanaathi mahaa Guru Devebhyo namaha"

"Om Vyam Vyaasadevaaya namaha".

Of course, you can also add the name of your own Guruji by saying

"Om Shri Guru (Name of the Guru) namaha.

Regards,

Mohanraaam.
