Guest guest
Dear Nanad, Jai MAA, Jai Swamiji, I offer my humble and respectful obesiances to your lotus feet.. I would like to ask you if you could tell me more clear how Sir Swamij mean with the compensation method that wrote in previous letter as below: Swamiji's response: Homa is valued at 10% of japa. The formula for japa is generally one lakh (100,000 recitations) per syllable. At the fire we can perform 10%. If you do not have a fire, perform 100%. For example the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Jum Sah, has 2 syllables. It's complete recitation will require 200,000, or 1,852 malas. At the fire it would require 185 malas. if one chant 125000 or 500000 how should i make a compensation if one is not able to perfom a homa efter doing mantra japa, please have your advice on this, thank you.. Once again, iam very great and thankful for your gudiness, with best regards, servent, Afshin B H
Guest guest
Dear Bruce, Take the mantra that you are chanting, and multiply the number of syllables in your mantra by 100,000. This is the number that you would need to just chant it as a japa. (In Swamiji's example below, he gave a 2 syllabled mantra, and hence said that the complete mantra japa would be 200,000 repetitions) If you are going to chant this mantra at the fire, then you would need to take the number of syllables for this mantra and multiply by 10,000 (which is 1/10th the number for just japa). If you are unable to do the homa, then you would just repeat what you did earlier for the japa, and chant it 100,000 per syllable. I hope this made it clearer for you. If not, please do post and ask. I will do my best to help.
