Guest guest
>You need only to observe the bizarre ritual of the living goddess in >Nepal to understand how twisted Hinduism's take on a woman's >reproductive powers can be. Each year, a pre-pubescent girl is >selected as a living goddess and venerated till she reaches puberty. >Once she is menstrual, she is cast aside and condemned to live a >sad, neglected life. Some former living goddesses end up begging. >Some sell their bodies. I don´t care to comment about the rest of the story but that the Kumari is "cast away" or "condemmend to live a sad neglected life" and that some sell their bodies are lies. WEat is true is thatsome of the girls that are worshipped as the most famous Kumari the "Royal Kumari" who is incorporating taleju bhavani sometimes have problems adjusting to a normal life after appx 12 or 14 years of living on the temple premises and being worshipped after Durga leaves their bodies. But because they receive a state pension they can live a normal life and of course t theydo not need to sell their body, this is an ugly deliberate lie. Documentation of the Lives of former Kumaris: http://kumari.puellula.com/former.html a critical view on the lack of possibilities to receive proper education and other drawbacks in the life of the Kumaris and how the tradition could be modified to better adapt to cultural changes http://kumari.puellula.com/ethics.html
