Guest guest
Yeah, you were confusing me, Great Puddle! Every picture I've seen of Dhumavati has her surrounded by crows, or with a crow on her flag. But owls are associated with Alakshmi, the goddess of poverty and bad luck (and sister of Lakshmi). Lakshmi sometimes is shown riding on an owl, which she borrows from her sister, because owls are dazzled by light (the way devotees of Lakshmi can be dazzled by her gifts of Wealth!). For what it's worth, crows often gather to "mob" an owl that has entered their precincts, attacking the owl in hopes of driving it away. Both predatory birds feed off the same small mammals and insects, and the owls have been known to eat baby crows. Owls are bad luck birds in many cultures. Only the Greeks admired them, thinking them "wise" and symbols of Athena, goddess of knowledge. Several Native American peoples talk about "hearing the owl call your name" -- a hooting owl is a sign of immanent death of someone nearby. -- Len mahahradanatha <mahahradanatha > wrote: , "mahahradanatha" <mahahradanatha wrote: > > , "Devi Bhakta" <devi_bhakta@> > wrote: > > > > *** Dhirendra Pal Singh wrote: "Actually Brain of Owl too..
