Guest guest
She embodies the Jnana Mudra; i.e. the gesture of initiation or upadesa, comprised by forming a circle with the thumb and forefinger while stretching the other fingers, signifying that the Ultimate Reality is Purna or Complete. Siva, as Sri Daksinamurti, initiates devotees with this mudra, which is also known as Cinmudra. ("kara-kalita-cinmudra: with hand showing jnana-mudra" - Sankara's "Sri Daksinamurti Stotra," 14) - Dr. C. Suryanarayana Murthy, Commentary on the Sri Lalita Sahasranama, 1962 , "NMadasamy" <ashwini_puralasamy wrote: > > > > This is formed by joining the tips of the thumb and fore-finger [to > make a circle and extending the other fingers], or JNANa, by > knowledge, mud, bliss, rA, she gives.
