Guest guest
Respected Sir: A similar poser was also received from a devoutee whose posting was somewhere beyond Ulan Bator (outer Mongolia). Another devoutee working for National Geographic globe-trotting frequently had landed up somewhere in the interiors of Africa and was not sure about this sanklpam. Maybe in such cases where there could be problems in clarity of correct description of the place in Sankrit and with Vedic references, one may simply resort to the mental 'bhavana' whereby one sees oneself in this country itself i.e. Bharata Varsha. Most of us are certainly more likely to remember our respective hometown here in India and to some extent can easily bring up the mental picture of their home. The 'bhavana' can be retained as long as one is involved with the relevant ritual for which the Sankalpa is taken and then come out of the 'bhavana' once the ritual concludes. There seems to be another advantage in adopting this 'bhavana' , viz.more focussed concentration is indirectly obtained as one remains physically present in whatever town or city, but mentally the heart and the spirit is in this country. One is sure that our beloved Lord knows all and thus would not perhaps mind this apparent mismatch in the Sankalpa utterances and the location of the physical/external body. This writer may be forgiven for his views are erroneous. __/\__ Om tat Sat Tat Tvam Asi "Dr. Sadagopan" <yennappan@compu "Ponnappan" <Oppiliappan>, "Sgt" ter.net> <saranagathi>, "SG" <Tiruvenkatam>, Sent by: <Ramanujamission (AT) (DOT) .com>, "Swami" <>, "Rajeev" acharya@gro <Parakalamatham>, "acharya" <acharya>, "DS" ups.com <desikasampradaya> cc: Fw: [Vaideekam] about the Sankalpa saying "Bhartha Varshe, Bharatha Khande" 07/10/06 07:06 while outside India AM Please respond to "Dr. Sadagopan" SrI: Dear AasthikAs : The question on Sankalpam for Vaidhika Karmaas by overseas residents comes up quite often . While saying 'Sankalpa' normally we say "Bharatha Varshe, Bhartha Khande," etc. While we are outside India - does this make sense ? With Respects Maha Sankalpam Changes for USA: Hariromthathu ..... prathame pathe asmathu Bharadhasya Paschimasthe krouncha dweepe uththara Kande Asmin vardhamane .... So, you should change accordingly to all other places. Also you can fill the unknown data with "Vishnu" as 'Vishnu Varshe', 'Vishnu Kande' etc. or you can just leave all the detail after "Prathame pathe to dhakshine paarsve" and continue from 'Asmin Varthamane vyavaharike' etc. nvs
