In many places I had seen this picture and there are some incriptions found below the picture (those parts are missing in the picture now) It reads Thiruvannamalai Garuda Sevai. One of my relative was in Thiruvannamalai for 10 years as she was posted in thiruvannamalai indian bank branch, and there was no known garuda sevai done during those 10 years. He is said to have come for ANDAL's Svayamvaram among the 108 dhivya desa EmperumAns and lost the bid for the hand of ANDAL to Sri Ranganathan . After that , the Lord took up His residence at ThiruvaNNAmalai to give us His darsanam according to local legend . ThiruvaNNAmalai is the small hill close to Andal ThirumALikai , where Lord SrinivAsan is in permanent residence after He lost out to Sri RanganAtha in ANDAL Svyamvaram . The Murthy is Lord Venkatesan on this ThiruvaNNAmalai hill . In this picture ( top right ), Bhagavaan Rushing on Garuda Vaahanam to the Svayamvaram . PeriyAzhwAr is GarudAmsar and he is on the same peetam with RangamannAr and ANDAL at Sri Villiputthur even today . The sthala PurANam and local Itheehyam refers to 108 dhivya dEsa EmperumAns competing for the hand of Godhai in Marriage . She chose Sri RanganAthan and the rest is history .
