Guest guest
I ask the question because everytime I work with a mantra around day 20 or so I begin to be flooded with overwhelming emotions and it seems as though I began to have qutie a bit of "bad" luck. I am currently working with a prosperity mantra (Har Haray Haree Wahey Guru) and the cross-heart Kirtan Kriya. Although I have been doing yoga (Hatha & Kundalini) for almost 12 years now, my experiences have ranged from blissful to extemely painful. Since I was raised by a violent mother and grandmother who have Borderline Personality Disorder, in order to survive as a kid, I had to disassociate on many levels (suppressed emotions, physicla sensations etc.) I seem to have worked through a lot of the anger and rage but now I am moving into feeling the terror. When I experience these feelings, I know I am getting back into my body and experincing what it was never safe to feel at the time. I have quite a few very negative core beliefs which I am thankful to yoga and mantra for unearthing and bringing into the light. I can see how these beliefs have been manifesting in my day to day existence. Unfortunately, as these beliefs are rising from the subconscious to the conscious level it seems they are manifesting on the physical level which only adds to the anxiety and fear I am already experiencing. Is there are way to work with mantras that clearly work to clear the subsconscious without it manifesting or appearing to manifest on the physical level as I identify and let go of these core beliefs that are no longer serving my spirit? I am working with a great thearpist in the Buddhist tradition who has greatly helped me to process a lot of this stuff. I would like the perspective from those of you have had abusive childhood experiences and have worked specifically with Kundalini Yoga to heal these parts of yourself. Thanks in advance. Sat Nam. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I think one thing to realize is that our consciousness is in every cell of our body, so we can't separate the two when going through a healing process... The way I visualize it.... is that our subconscious can be seen as dormant spores (so to speak) in our physical tissues/cells and as we bring to light or begin to tap into the subconscious... the spores open up, releasing whatever toxicity was being held in them (whether that be physical, emotional or mental toxicity)...so there is often physicality of healing that has to be processed when that happens? Part of it is karma...we have to experience the effect of our beliefs (good, bad or ugly), so as these subconscious beliefs surface, we experience either in our consciousness, or in our physical body or within our outer enviroment the effects of such beliefs. Sometimes it can be quite painful and challenging..... with consciousness of the process, it makes it a little easier to ride the wave and to know that yes you are healing, even if your physical body appears to be saying otherwise. keep up! Guest guest
Sat Nam Kimberlie, What is your eye focal point? Consider changing your focal point to the tip of your chin to cultivate a calm center amidst the ocean of emotions, and the ever changing cycles of the moon. This is allowed. Also, it can't be stressed enough the value of doing a navel (nabhi) set before meditating.
