dear friends

in shivapuran, under shatarudra samhita, chapter 30,lord shiva's

avadhooteshvar avataar was narrated. once king of devatas Indras

along with guru of devatas Brihaspati (jupiter) goes to meet lord

shiva. to test the visitors, lord shiva come in the form of a large

sized avadhoot manifestation and king indra not only undermines the

avadhoot but also try to use his vajra ayudh, only to get his hands

frozen (stambhan). then the most benefic guru (as usual) requests

lord shiva to show mercy on the ignorant egoist indra after which

lord shiva spares indra and then tells brihaspati "BECAUSE YOU HAVE

GIVEN JEEVAN DAAN TO INDRA, FROM NOW ONWARDS YOU WILL ALSO BE CALLED

JEEVA".

under the narration and in some other texts it is written that mere

conjunction or aspect of jupiter itself can turn a malefic into a

benefic. such is the benevolent disposition of the most benefic

planet jupiter as he gives life to even erring planets by making

them good.

with best wishes

pandit arjun
