Dear All,

FYI: Carat of gems weight is 5 cts = one gram / Karat of gold

purity is based on percent of pure gold in a mix, e.g., 75% gold = 18K,

or 90% gold = 21k, and 100% gold = 24K --- Carat weight, and Karat

purity are different words.

--- FOR EXAMPLE OF 18K YELLOW GOLD THIS MIGHT CONSIST 75% PURE 24K

GOLD, + 20% Copper, + 5% Zink, in otherwords, to get a kilo of 18k

gold you mix togther 750 grams of pure 24k gold + 200 grams of

copper/nickle + 50 grams of zink = 1000 grams of 18k gold.

When the mix is 90% of gold then the final is 21k gold, etc.

When there is only pure 24k gold, unmixed with anything, that is

called 24k (99.99% pure).

Dear Mr. Brown:

Now that you have seen my horoscope and details of gem prescription, what would you recommend that I buy within the budget of $1500 please?

There is an easy way to understand the gold carat .

24 K is pure gold

18 k is 18/24 that is 75 percent gold

14 k is 14/24 that is 58.33 percent gold

10 k is 10/24 that is 41.67 percent gold
