Guest guest
Ever since I was a small child, the message I received from many respected and devout individuals that while experimentations in worldly activities are tolerated, there is less flexibility for same in matters spiritual or for instance in religious rituals. Certain protocols must be followed for optimum efficiency or at times even getting results, in sensitive matters which follow the principle of All or none, like the binary states of 0 or 1! At least in the Universe we live in or are primarily focused in -- most of us, that is! When I grew up a bit more and through the Grace of serendipity astrology came into my life, it was hard to miss the attributes described in Classics by Sage Scholars as the requirements for astrologers. Overall, these tend to set the standards pretty high for most modern individuals. One caveat that is expressed is to not 'give' the secrets of astrology to undeserved individuals. Who is an ideal individual to receive astrology education is mentioned and again represents fairly high standards. Nowhere, though, have I found very clear indications or recommendations for the nativity who is ready to receive astrological advice. In some of the horary/prashna texts mention is made of some of the requirements but most would not pass even those requirements I dare say. None of us have read everything and that is the power of forums as these! We can supplement each other's learning and opinions and concepts. Once we lose that perspective, pretty soon 'fur' and 'feathers' begin to fly and we scramble to justify the emotional volatility or even blame it on mercury going retrograde or rahu running into sun or mars sitting on saturn's shoulders or whatever <smile please!> Let us focus on the client, the nativity that approaches jyotishi for a reading amateur or professional. What must they bring to the table, to the relationship that links the jyotishi and jatak? Or do the classics say, otherwise?
