Guest guest
Hi, yogis and yoginis! I'm a new yogi and I've been practising ashtanga for quite some time. When i reached the marichyasana C, something weird happened. My teacher binded me 1st time in this posture, it took me sometime to execute it. After the normal 5x breathing, i saw a light in my field of vision. It started out as a small patch of light, about 3 inches in diameter. Then it goes more clearer forming a ring of light. That ring of light is much like a multi faceted diamond. It is reflective and it has petals around it. Very glass like. When i focus my vision to my teacher, it surprised me to see her face sharper inside the eclipse-shaped ring of light. While the images outside the ring are all blurred. I'm not dizzy or groggy. It's just this ring of light are in my field of vision everywhere i look at and its getting bigger. The entire room was occupied. It felt weird and at thesame time i'm a bit worried, because i don't know what's goin' on and nobody can explain to me. Was it physical, health reason? or etheric in nature? Since the ring of light is not fading, my teacher advised me to do the pranayama, cooling down sequence skiping the inversions and end the practice in savasana. Though everytime i close my eyes the vision of the ring of light are still on my mental screen. It's moving and dynamic. It's like literally seeing stars! Its past 7:30 pm and I managed to drive home even if it was raining, what a day! I felt better after some grounding visualization exercise in the car. Then I felt this heat rising at my lower back, I thought its due to my sweat after the asanas. A dense sensation in my ajna and a vibration on my crown after the ring of light disappeared in my vision. My teacher told me that i was her first time to encounter that phenomenon in her students. Hmmm, what more if she binded me at the next pose? :-) Does anyone experience this phenomenon in your ashtanga practice? Any explanation will be appreciated. namaste! siddha
Guest guest
google skitoma- what you described sounds like skitoma- its triggered by mainly hormones and can be known as a pre-migrane symptom. you can get it by an catching some light in your eye and also can get from pressure on the optic nerve, like in halasana. sounds like the intense twist put pressure on the optic nerve. alternatively it could have been mystical and wonderous or both! now on to D.... --- siddha888 <siddha888 > wrote: > Hi, yogis and yoginis! > > I'm a new yogi and I've been practising ashtanga for > quite some time.
