There is an old film song which reads as such 'Does the reed moves because of the breeze or the breeze arises because the plant moves, Does the vision appears as the eyes open or the eyes open just as the vision emerges and so on'

In the same spirit, does a place become sacred for a bhAgavathA becoz it is a divya-dhEsam or any place where they do reside in fact becomes holy.

The answer for this question is found from the Surthram 203 of srIvachana BhUshaNam .

Though this sUthram comes in the context of BhAgavatha apaachAram, this subject is dealt.

The text:

iiviTatthilE vainathEya vritthAnthatthaiyum piLLai

piLLai AzhwAnukku AzhwAn paNittha vArtthayaiyum

the vaintheya vrithantham: is depicted in the udyoga

parva of mahabharatham. When Galva finished his studies

under viswamithra and was leaving the school, he asked his acharya to name the fees. On his persistence visvamithra lost his cool and asked him to bring 200 white horses with one ear black. To look for such horses garduazhvan agreed that he will help his friend. During there search they

reached a hill called rishabha, where a pious vaishnavite lady called "SANdi" was doing her penances silently. Having

reveived her hospitality, and looking at her pious

nature, garudazhwan thaught, why this lady is staying

alone in such a desolate place, instead of going to some DD's and stay there. That moment, his feathers fell down, and he realized that such a thought indeed caused bahagavatha apcharam and he realized that, only due to the presence of the bhagavathas a place become sanctified, not becoz of place the bhagavathas become so. So where ever they live, that should be considered as a DD.

Akin to this periyazhwar TM thirukkoshityur pathikam, the

essence is to speak the glories of the Srivaishnavas, who

dwell into the bhagavad anubhavam, and to show how

others who doest do so are fallen.

periyAzhwar narrates how even the feet dust of those

bhagavathas in the bhagavad anubhavam converts a place

into a DD

"nAthanai narasinkanai navintrErthuvarkaLuzhakkiya

pAda dhULi paTuthalAl ivvulakam bhaagyam cheythathE"

Becoz of their pada dhuli..the world become holy

"Thirukkottiyur karunthatamukil vannanai kataikondu

kaithozhumbatharkal irunthavurililirukkum manitar

ethavankal seytharkolo?"

 

"Thirukkottiyur nambanai narasinkanai

navintrErthuvarkalai kandal empiraan thana sinnangal

ivarivarentru asaikal thIrvanE."
