Guest guest
Namaste David, The calculation of the Lagnashtakavarga is similar to those for the other planets, except for Rahu and Ketu. Parasara has discussed this method of calculation in his classic Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra. More current authors, such as KN Rao and Vinay Aditya, have discussed these methods and interpretations. Personally, I have not manually calculated the various planetary ashtakavargas. It is probably the most difficult calculations in jyotish. However, some authors have said that there are jyotishis in India who can manually calculate the astakavargas very quickly. It is enough for me the understand the principles behind the calculations. I don't need to check all the calculations provided by others. For me, I rely on the various jyotish computer programs available in the market today. I am sure your program has already provided the various ashtakavargas for the various planets. Needless to say, it is very interesting to interpret these ashtakavargas in conjunction with analyses using the other systems in jyotish. Specifically, I am watching the effects of the transit of Mars in Leo in the USA National chart. Using the Kelleher USA chart, the USA only has 1 bindu in Leo in the Mars Ashtakavarga. This would mean that Mars would be very weak in its transit of Leo. Preliminary indications show that the Mars transit would not be beneficial for the US stock market. Although there was a surge in market activity after Bernanke's speech, the positive trend could not be sustained. It appears that the American public is wary of what the American government will do in the current conflict in Lebanon, aside from its involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. In short, the ashtakavarga system has many applications aside from using it in analyzing individual's chart.
