Guest guest
Dear Narendra, Engligh translations of both the Sanskrit and Tamil Rhbhu Gitas have only been published by SAT (Sociaty of Abidance in Truth, in Santa Cruz, CA, USA). Information can be found at their web site: http://www.satramana.org/html/sat_publications.htm I do not think these are carried by many book stores, but they are available, I think, at Ramanasramam. Ramanasramam also published a special edition of the Tamil ribhu Gita by permission of SAT (Titled "Song of Ribhu") This was available from the bookstore at rupee prices. They may have sold out their first printing. I did not see any at the bookstore when I was visiting Ramanasramam in January. I am not sure of the prices. Guest guest
Dear Nisheet, When I was in Bangalore two years ago, I went to Ramanasramam with a group. We first stayed at Ramana Centre for Learning in Bangalore, then hired three cars for the group. The drive took about 5 hours, maybe six. Most of the group stayed at Ramanasramam. These are nice facilities, you need to make arrangements with Ramanasramam before you arrive. I think you can do this via email. Go to the Ramanasramam site. Last year I did not stay in Ramanasramam. My wife and I stayed at a nearby guest house. There are many of them. We stayed at Darmha Daya Guest House. This year I stayed with an India friend I had met last year. I was interested in seeing a bit of what life in Tiruvanamalai was like, since we are thinking of moving there. What I liked very best was getting up at 5 AM and going to the roof top and sitting with Arunachala until day break. Another thing I enjoyed deeply was walking up to Skandasram right after breakfast, and listening to the monk sing and chat when when he first opens it up in the morning. He has a wonderful voice, and the inner chamber is so resonant, and the love he has in his heart shows in his voice. One can listen and just sink into the inquiry. And walking Pradakshina on the inner path. Have a wonderful trip! When will you be going? Guest guest
Dear Narendra, The English version of Ribhu Gita, translated by Robert Butler, is available in Ramanashram publication The Mountain Path - Jayanthi Issue Vol 31 Nos 3&4, December 1994.Chapter Two containing the teaching "You are of the nature of Brahman" has 50 verses. You may be able to view it in Ramanashram web-site.This presents a wonderful picture of Advaitha Philosophy. Bhagavan Ramana used to say that the chanting of the Ribhu Gita is itself sufficient to induce in the mind the direct perception of the Truth. For the benefit of all Group members, I can post all the translated verses one by one, if the Moderator permits. Dear Sir, Has the entire work been translated by Mr Butler, or only the 50 verses mentioned by you? Some twenty years back, I saw Butler in Annamalai Swamy Ashram. At that time there had been no publication of the Tamil work, only a few copies of the Kovilur Math Publication having been in the possession of a the old devotees of Bhaghavan. Annamalai Swamigal had two copies. Butler very much requested the Samy to part with a copy, as he had the intention to translate it into English. The Swamigal had to accede to the importunity of Butler. But, Butler did not go in for the translation for a long time in spite of his involvment in the translation of the works of Muruganar. Mr David Godman told me that in view of the repetitive nature of the work, Butler did not go ahead with the work. But there is a translation done by one H. Ramamurthy which is excellent. yours ever in Bhagahvan Sankarraman Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min. Guest guest
Dear Sir, I have with me only the second chapter of Ribhu Gita, translated by Robert Butler, in The Mountain Path Publication and I have no idea whether the entire Sanskrit work has been translated by Robert Butler. I went through all the volumes of the above Journal available with me and there is no further publication on this subject, as far as I know. Incidentally, could you confirm where I can access the translated version of Shri.H.Ramamurthy? Anbudan Kumar Ganesan Sankarraman <shnkaran > wrote: Messenger with Voice.
