Guest guest
thank you dear dear Professor-ji for another fascinating installment in this series ! yes , chitta shuddhi - a favorite topic on this list . Yes- cleaning up the mind or 'purification' - removing the 'mala ' or dirt ? how can this be accomplished ? several sadhanas are prescribed for this purification process 1) nishkama karma 2) upasana 3) tri-kala sandhyavadanam (thanks Bhaskar-ji! for this wonderful tip! ) 4) performing yagnas etc for bhuta shuddhi 5) reading of scriptural texts etc .... 6) dhyana or meditation so on and so forth ... but the big question is once chitta shuddhi is attained, should a sadhaka give up all of these i.e one who is apsiring to be a brahma jnani ? here i recall a well known verse from swami sivananda Vihaya Kaman Yah Sarvan Pumamscharati Nisspruhah Nirmamo Nirahankarah Sa Santim Adhigachhati Yes ! we must never give up study of great scriptures like Srimad Bhagvat Gita , VIVEKA CHUDAMANI, ATMA BODHA , TATTVA BODHA , UPANISHADS , PANCHADASI , YOGA VASISHTA, ASHTAVAKRA GITA , AVADHUTA GITA ETC ETC ETC .... FOR peace of mind , this is absolutely necessary ( nirmamo nirahankarah sa santim adhi gacchati) ! but the question still remains once a brahma jnani should you give all these up ? i do not think so . FOR THE SAKE OF SANTANGATI, A BRAHMA JNANI SHOULD SHARE ALL HIS KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM WITH OTHER ASPIRANTS . satsaügatve niþsaügatvaü niþsaügatve nirmohatvam | nirmohatve ni÷calatattvaü ni÷calatatve jãvanmuktiþ || By keeping the company of great Mahatmas, one becomes dispassionate. He gets Vairagya. He does not like the company of worldly men. Then he develops the state of Nirmohatva. He becomes free from infatuation or delusion. Then his mind becomes steady and one- pointed and rests on the Svarupa or Essence. Then he attains liberation or freedom. >From the "Bhaja Govinda Stotram" of Sri Adi Sankaracharya WE ARE SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE THIS 'COLLECTIVE' SATSANGHA IN THIS GROUP ! Thank you professor-ji ! with warmest regards
