Guest guest
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh, Hello to everyone. I recently have been confronted by one of my relatives with regard to using a mala properly. She indicated to me that the mala should NOT be used with the beads being pulled down across the index finger using the thumb in repetition. When I asked why she replied that the mala should be pulled upward using only the tips of the thumb and index finger. I said this is a very hard method than what I am used to. Can anyone please clarify as to a tried and tested method as everyone I speak to gives me a different answer. Thanks, Vakhtaver Singh. Sat Nam. Guest guest
Sat Nam Vakhtaver Wahe guru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh, the way I was taught I was instructed that one should not use the index finger at all, I was told that this is the pointing finger & that it was disrespectful to use it, to use the middle finger instead. Rolling the beads away from your body. I was also taught that we should not use the hand in which we would wipe our behinds (excuse the bluntness)as this was also considered to be disrespectful.... also, when you reach the Guru bead, repeat the mantra and make a prayer. To begin again, turn the mala around and continue from the start again. may we live with grace & gratitude,Wahe Guru!
