I would like to get started NOW with Ashtanga yoga, however, I am unable to find a class here in the Tampa Bay area. Would anyone happen to know of someone? I have found one person in the Gulfport area, however, they will not start until September as they have taken the summer off from classes. There is a group of longtime ashtanga practitioners in the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg area, some of whom have been to Mysore. Some of them get together and practice mysore style. But it sounds like you need a teacher. It may take you some time to inquire, but you might find them. You might try contacting Virginia Williamson, a yoga teacher in Tampa, who give you more information. Her email is staryoga (AT) comcast (DOT) net. Also, you can pay a visit to Full Circle Yoga in Orlando, particularly when they have workshops, and that way you can get to know teachers in the area. Currently we have our retreats going in Asia, Bali begins again the middle of August. You can check out our schedule at www.yogabound.com. In the meantime, Yogani in Tampa has an Astanga Class on Sunday Mornings and I believe they have added one more during the week. www.yogani.com There is also Anala Yoga Studio in Clearwater.
