Guest guest
>Interesting analysis. What about attaing all four types of liberation in >dasya-rasa on Vaikuntha? Looks like they are not mutually exclusive, except for santa-rasa, where the entire emphasis is given to passive subordination, which is quote opposed to to the active service in the other 4 rasas. >Can we speak about attaining one type of liberation without attaining the > other ones? I guess you have already answered this yourself when your said: >Perhaps this analysts is meant for explaining which of the four types of >liberation is most relevant (prema-sevottara) to the particular rasa. In other words, samipya corresponds to one of predominant ways of service to Krsna in vatsalya-rasa, which is described as "generated in a devotee out of his conviction, in love, that he himself is superior to Krsna and that being taken care of by such a devotee Krsna could not possibly live." (NOD 43) That's why such devotees need assets and wealth -- to take care of Krsna's needs and welfare, which is the main thrust of their bhava. In dasya one does not have to have the same bodily features or the same wealth or even physical proximity to the Lord in order to be able to serve Hame -- take Hanuman, for example. But being accessible for the master is essential. Hence salokya. Anyway, it may be a somewhat speculative analysis, but so far it seems to fall well in line with authoritative understanding of what constitutes 5 principal rasas. >Rupa Goswami explains that there are two broader categories of four kinds >of liberation. > >That is: > >1. sukhaishvaryottara - accepting any of the 4 liberations BECAUSE they are >pleasing to onself, and > >2. prema-sevottara - accepting any of the 4 liberations exclusively as >auspicious to one's loving service. Yes, it is referred to in BRS 1.2.56 quoted in the previous text: >Srila Rupa Goswami explains this topic lucidly in BRS saying that desire >for liberation can also be favorable for bhakti if it is subservient to it: > >BRS 1.2.56: > >sukhaisvaryottara seyam prema-sevottarety api | >salokyadir dvidha tatra nadya seva jusam mata ||56|| > >Translation: Salokya-sarsti-samipya-sarupya muktis are of two kinds: >firstly, as grandeur-and-pleasure-giving to the individual, i.e. mukti in >which the individual desires his personal pleasures from the grandeur and >wealth, and secondly mukti in which Prema-seva dominates, i.e. in which the >dominant desire is to serve the Lord for His delight. But the first of >these two aspects of mukti is not welcome to those who are devoted to the >service of the Lord, i.e. they do not seek personal pleasures from the >grandeur and wealth of the first four forms of mukti. > YOur servant, Madana-mohana das
