Guest guest
Dear bhakthAs and bhAgavathAs, adiyen had the bhAgyam of being a one person in the crowd during the car festival of Sri AndAl sametha Rangamannar at Sri Villiputtur on 29th-July. The car was started around 8.15-8.20 A.M. (adiyen didnt noted the exact time) and with the full crowd of devotees of both gents and ladies tried to pull the car using big 'vadams'. At the back, was bulldozer each near the back giant wheel of car trying to push it hardly. Thanks for the huge crowd which chanted the govinda nama during the car movement. Many volunteers supported in smooth moving of the car. One remarkable supporter was Ramco Cements which supported by placing iron plates under the giant wheel at the turning of streets. It was (still it is unforgettable moment!!) great in watching Sri Andal with Sri Rangamanar inside the big car moving while the garlands worn by both of them shakes slowly. According to HER in tiruppavai, the devotees performed the vaaku - chanting govinda naama manas - thinking about the couples Sri Andal ,Sri Rangamannar Seiyal - pulling the car - kainkaryam -service to Lord Afternoon, the car came to its position. Bhakthas were allowed to have darshan of divine couples inside the car. Then evening they(divine couples) were brought inside the mandapam where bharatanAtyam of Andal history was performed. The next day, they went into nandavanam (periyAlwars' garden where Sri Andal was found) and then entered into Mirror Hall (Kannaadi Maaligai). Then we had the darshan of Viswa roopam of Sri Andal Sri Rangamannar inside the Mirror Hall. Again it was great feast to eyes, manas, seiyal (worshipping) After that, adiyEn left to Chennai. Sri Andal sametha Sri Rangamannar thiruvadigale saranam: adiyen senthil.
Guest guest
Respected srivaishnava bhakthas I too belong to Srivilliputtur, born and brought up there. The present car of Sri Andal is much reduced in height after couple of accidents like the dome falling down and killing some people etc. In those days, the cart would take 2 to 3 months to come back to the starting place (nilai). Once it took six months to come back. For pulling the vadam schools will start late, offices and shops will be closed and villagers from around Srivlliputtur will come beating the drums. Gone are those joyous days. It is sad that the car has to be reduced in size and comes back in a few hours. Price paid for fast living.
