First let me apologise for some errors in the above presentation.

The correct reading is:

 

pramAtA cha pramANam cha prameyo nishchitistathA |

yatsAnnidhyAt prasidhyanti tatsiddhau kimapekShate ||

 

(What need is there to establish that by whose very presence the

knower, the means as also the object of knowledge, and the knowledge

itself are established?) BrihadAraNyaka Vaartika (1.4.870)

What need is there to establish the established ?

If knowledge doesn't establish knowledge false knowledge will be established by false knower.
