Shakti Sadhana Homepage: New Look (and Mahishasura Mardini Video)!

I was just geeking around on You Tube and found a nice excerpt from a

classical dance version of Mahishasura Mardini, the legend of Durga

and the Buffalo Demon.

For the fun of it, I embedded it on the index page of the Shakti

Sadhana homepage. Please have a look and let me know what you think --

should we keep it there or does it seem silly to have it on the homepage?

http://www.shaktisadhana.org/

Also -- whether you like the video or not -- if you haven't visited

the homepage fro a while, I encourage you to do so! Nora has been

knocking herself out for many months now, gradually sprucing the place

up. The result is a very new look and a significant reorganization of

materials. Please click through it a bit -- if you like it, c'mon and

show Nora some love! If you don't like it, or if you find errors

and/or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know that too!

Thanks as always for your time and interest ...

Dear DB and SS Family members ,

I think it is excellent and Hema Malini (the actress as Durga Maa) have always done justice to her impersonification (there is another one where she plays Ma Kali in dance of destruction) Anway just want to say I enjoyed it ........

Thank you DB !!!

Another point to note Nora Madasamy have done great work with Sri Lalita Ma Sahasranam . Writing them down daily on and posting them in the group is not an easy task . It is a sadhanic attempt by itself . It not easy as it looks ........

Jai Maa!!!

Thank you Nora for your persistent and consistent contribution here !!!

p/s Always had deep respect for unsung heroes wherever they are .............................

Pranam. The homepage looks good. Kudos, Noraji. The Bharanatyam piece was an added bonus, as well. The dancer seems to be Hema Malini. Is it her? All in all, it is a pretty informative and neat place to visit if one is interested in Mahadevi. Please keep up the good work. Perhaps, we can get members to write poetry, stories or draw pictures of Mata, just something of their personal touch? Just an opinion.

Let my every word be a prayer to Thee,

Every movement of my hands a ritual gesture to Thee,

Every step I take a circumambulation of Thy image,

Every morsel I eat a rite of sacrifice to Thee,

Every time I lay down a prostration at Thy feet;

Every act of personal pleasure and all else that I do,

Let it all be a form of worshiping Thee."

Thanks to all for the feedback on the homepage redesign.

I'm glad that the Mahishasura Mardini video seems to be a hit (yes, it

is Hema Malini dancing as Sri Durga). Nora and I talked it over

earlier today, however, and decided its proper place is not the index

page but -- well, of course, the Mahishasura Mardini page.

And there you will find it! Enjoy:

what about the poem from Tarini, do you add it too ?

Beside, is it just me or is the writing extremely small, and almost too much for one page ?

*** what about the poem from Tarini, do you add it too ? ***

I did not. It is a fine poem but did not really fit the page scheme,

in my opinion. Thank you for the suggestion; there is a poems section

elsewhere on the site where Nora has collected some of the verse

contributed bu members over time.

*** Beside, is it just me or is the writing extremely small, and

Not sure. Maybe too small, maybe too much, maybe just fine. It is what

it is; what can one do. Maybe too much and too small is quite perfect

for Sri Durga, She Who is Difficult of Access. ;-)

I'm reminded of something Edward Abbey wrote in "Desert Solitaire," in

which he praised difficulty of access as a way of making people

appreciate something once acquired (after all, it is human nature to

appreciate things that cost more than things that are free; and things

that come with effort more than things that come easily!

"Do not jump into your automobile next June and rush out to the Canyon

country hoping to see some of that which I have attempted to evoke in

these pages. In the first place you can't see anything from a car;

you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better

yet crawl, on hands and knees, over the sandstone and through the

cactus. When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see

something -- maybe."

– Edward Abbey, 'Desert Solitaire'
