Guest guest
The way I look at this issue is this: ISKCON is a preaching organization, with clear organizational purposes. To implement Varnasrama requires a lot of power, money, and expertise. Why? Because, in establishing Varnasrama, we are seeking to make a sociopolitical and economical change to the way contemporary society is presently functioning. It seems to me that ISKCON is quite poor (of course our GBC leadership never discloses the worldwide finances situation); at least that what looks like when you travel in ISKCON temples in the West, which is obviously more opulent than the rest of the world. In terms of power, ISKCON does not have political, nor military influence anywhere it operates. In terms of expertise, ISKCON doesn't have educated sociologists, economists, military leaders, and the rest of the technology (educational levels, etc.) that modern society does have at its disposal. We cannot establish without entering the political arena. And that's another "can of worms." Hence, the way it looks now, we are not even close to "getting the ball rolling" with this program of establishing Varnasrama. We are still dealing with child abuse debacle and the family and marriage institutional crisis. We are quite busy with all this hogwash...that thinking of establishing varnasrama seems quite a long way to go... YKD
