Vedic Rite for Twins

There is a strong taboo attached to having twin babies in certain parts of

Africa, espescially in West Africa, if not in all the Continent.

According to the local tradition there are certain rites that have to be

performed by the parent, and these rites are of voodoo origin.

In some area the ceremony demands that the mother goes out begging with the

twins, sometimes carrying some efigy representing the twins.

 

A devotee member has just given birth to twins and he has been asking my

advice on what vedic rite he can perform in place of what is normally done

in their tradition. I have no idea and I understand his fears about the

consequences of not honouring the tradition, as well as not transgressing

his devotional principles.
