Dear Karen and all ~ it's been awhile since I've been able to read the digests, picking back up with them now, and I see there's a lot happening. I really appreciated your comments about Sauca, Karen, because I am still up to my ears in boxes, and because of my illness, there are days I am lucky to get even half a box unpacked. Yesterday, I had a goal, and I unpacked two boxes. Right now I'm working on the kitchen. It is a bit sad to me because there is so much that I have to decide is not essential and repack, due to lack of storage. And then there are things I unpack that remind me of my mother (she passed on July 6), and I lose it all over again in my grief. Cleaning, which used to be a kind of sadhana to me, is beyond my capacity now. I am aware as I unpack that the shelves are dusty again as is the furniture, the bathrooms need attention. :::sigh::: Even though I am no longer able to breeze through an entire house and clean pretty much everything in a few hours, my challenge, sankalpa perhaps, is to figure out what I can do. Okay, maybe today, I can dust the bedroom furniture. Then I have to be satisfied with that. But if I do it with complete attention and devotion, it will be meaningful (especially if I can keep my monkey mind from jumping up and down and sqeaking in my ear all the rest of the stuff I'm NOT getting done LOL). One shelf cleaned with devotion may be better than two shelving units cleaned with anxiety, distress because I know I won't finish, etc. Thank you very much for this ~ Linda
Guest guest
Dear Linda, I may have mentioned this to you before, so please forgive me if I have. There is a web site call flylady.net that teaches a very spiritual approach to house blessings. The emphasis is on developing small habits over a long period of time. Easy does it, that's the approach; many members have severe handicaps, illnesses, and family traumas. From the system, one learns to apply the approach to very many directions. When I learned about Flylady, I thought, "This is someone that Swamiji would appreciate!"
